1. The capacity Building of the Organization by DM- World Bank 2014 was completed in July 2016. 04 Coordinators and 10 members of the Block Level Disabled People’s Organization (DPO) were trained in Designing CBR Framework in the next 03 years to Scale-up or Replicate the CBR approach to Rehab in the Rural areas. The Coordinators and the DPO members were also trained conduction of Situation Analysis and Focused Group Discussion. The World Bank Consultants had trained the Swabalambi Team in conduction Socio Economic survey and reporting from Field to Finland with the aid of Android Phone. The Respondents being the non disabled population of the Dimoria Block, Assam.
2. The project “Knock Out Poverty” facilitated Micro Loans to the Persons with Disabilities and their families who live below poverty line. This was in collaboration with World Bank Awardee 2013 Rang De, Bangalore.
3. The CBR project of Dimoria Block had completed 10 years and Caritas India CBR Forum has been funding the Phase Out CBR Program in the same block with the team effort of the DPO Leaders/Members who were impacted and capacitated with skills to run the Advocacy Programs and form more Village level DPOs.
4. The Scale Up CBR program of Swabalambi at the new Block, Chayani Barduar, Mirza had identified 246 Persons with Disabilities belonging to the age group of 0 years to 65 Years. The 05-member team of CBR Workers are facilitating services to the PWDs in the CBR matrix of Health, Education, Livelihood, Social and Empowerment. This is also a 11-year project.
5. Skill development in tailoring, Bamboo Work, and Weaving is an on-going program of Swabalambi. 25 Persons with Disabilities have been trained in Tailoring by CRC Guwahati and have received Certificates from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, New Delhi.
6. The Coordinators and the DPO Leaders trained by World Bank Consultants conducted the survey on Rapid Assessment of Functional Difficulty (RAFD) in 50 villages of Dimoria Block with funding from Mobility India NE.
This survey was aimed at identification of the old age population who had difficulty in functioning on daily basis, such as seeing ,hearing and mobility due to aches and pains. The increase of the life span has created old age disability both physical and mental like Alzheimer and dementia. Mobility India – NE has facilitated Prosthetics , Orthotic, calipers, Tricycle, Wheel chairs, Spectacles and Hearing Aid to the PWds and Elderly on spot at the following Camp of 02 days .
7. Celebration of World Disability Day 2016 included participation of more than 500 participants at Sonapur . The competition was among disabled children and non disabled children in Painting , games and Music . Sponsors from all walks of life contributed Prizes, tea, snack and lunch. The DPO members contributed fruits, cereals and juice from their own earnings.
2017
1. The winter picnic for all the staff and DPO Members was sponsored by Ruby Barpujari and Tondra Borbora . The DPO members have done all the arrangement , including shopping and cooking .
2. The CSR department of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) , Guwahati Refinery has sponsored the Computer training of 10 DPO Members at NISC, Guwahati for 03 months with Residential facilities . After completion of the Training , IOC facilitated each one to start their own Enterprize by donating a Desktop Computer, Printer and UPS. The DPO members are now running DTP Units in the villages.
3. Swabalambi had signed and MOU with Encircle – India Hub on 30.05.2017 at the Workshop held at Hotel Pride Plaza , Aerocity , New Delhi. Swabalambi is nominated as the NGO Partner for Assam and Meghalaya with 05 Validators. The prime focus of Encircle is to provide immediate emergency relief under hunger, health and education to the needy among the world’s poorest of the poor . Encircle bridges the gap between the donors and beneficiaries by providing a digital platform . it is a platform where all the stories get live and any person can donate digitally to the specific Individual beneficiary. The starting date of the Project is October 2017.
